RE: IGN Starcraft 2 ProLeague
I've been watching casts for a long while and I think Husky is one of the best. Here's a video of some of the new spectator UI: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCYTwmmK1LA

I really don't see why a cable network like G4 wouldn't partner with MLG, IGN, and any other big North American tournaments to do Starcraft 2 coverage. The truth is, a lot of these YouTube casters are getting higher view counts on their videos than G4 gets in primetime viewership.

SC2 is more difficult for casual viewers to follow than some of the other competitive game types (FPS, Fighting), but I don't see why we couldn't teach people how to appreciate it as spectators, even those who don't play it. I'm excited for more big North American tournament series, and hope this brings a lot more people to competitive PC gaming communities.

I wouldn't be surprised if G4 picked this up soon. If they broadcast programs of lesser marketable value, like Machinima, then why not?

I agree. I think the key to draw in a more casual viewer will be the spectator interface, and real face to face interviews with the players. Even if they don't know exactly what's going on, they could still get a general sense of who's ahead. Maybe even favor certain players due to their personal background/how they interview.
