The Fantastic 10: Comic-Con 2013 Exclusives

Well Nerdopsphere, June is almost over and that means Comic-Con is just around the corner along will all those exclusive goodies we nerds covet so dearly. I am breaking down in no particular order the ten coolest exclusive items that have been announced so far!

10. SDCC 2013 Gold Mini 10-Doh!
Squid Kids Ink-Booth 5150-Price: $20.00
Admittedly I know very little about Squid Kids Ink, but I think this is the perfect keepsake for the nerd on a budget who wants something on their desk or mantle to represent their trip to Comic-Con.

9. Batman #21 SDCC13 exclusive variant cover
DC Entertainment- Booth 2315-Price: $10.00
What would Comic-Con be without comic books? Being totally honest, I am a bit underwhelmed thus far from what DC is offering in terms of exclusives. The best thing making the list is a variant cover for ten bucks for a comic that you could pick up at any local comic shop. That being said, the ability to have this exclusive cover and then get it signed by the people who wrote and drew it is a nifty combo for the avid collector. I can’t get too down on DC either, not after they gave out those Owl masks for free last year.

8. Pam’s Dolphin Puppet
Factory Entertainment Inc-Booth 3351-Price: $25.00
If you are a non-Archer fan you probably think I am crazy to include this, but to those that are, you realize how awesome this is! This is a fully functional exact replica that is perfect for your next HR meeting. Lord knows the BDNS have been having a lot of those. And here is a link for those of you who need a refresher: http://youtu.be/c7WK2vTn03s

7. Masters of the Universe He-Man with Battle Axe and Shield Mini Bust Paperweight
Action Figures Xpress-Booth 3345-Price: $60.00
This piece is a little pricey, but speaking from experience everything I have gotten from Action Figures Xpress has been very well made. This is a great piece to compliment last year’s Power Sword/Castle Grayskull business card holder combo. This is perfect for any Master of the Universe fan.

6. Game of Thrones: 7″ Stark Shield Wall Plaque
Dark Horse Comics-Booth 2615-Price: $30.00
Last year Dark Horse had some very choice GoT items like their Hand of the King Brooch. Though I suppose a brooch is a sort of pin, isn’t it? I digress. The brooch was incredibly awesome and well-made and I expect this to be no different. My tip would be to see how many they have in stock and wait it out until the last day when they have their sale.

5. Game OF Thrones Set of 5 Exclusive Posters
Poster Party-Booth 401-Price: $30.00
As an avid poster collector this is a great deal! You get 4 full sized house posters and one GoT poster with the dragon shadow. Best bargain is for the lot, but you can buy them individually. I mean who really wants to hang up a House Tully poster anyway.

4. Cheetara 14inch and Snarf Deluxe 2 Pack
Mezco Toys-Booth 3445-Price: $50.00
The Last two ThunderCats exclusives of Mumm-Ra and Lion-O are proudly displayed on my mantle so this is an automatic buy for my collection or any Thundercats fan. I am a bit disappointed that I have to wait another year for them to release Tygra as an exclusive. If they do the Thunder kittens before him I riot.

3. Resident Evil Undercover S.T.A.R.S. Badge
Hollywood Collectibles Group-Booth 735-Price: $49.95
Simply put this is bad ass! It may be a bit pricey, but it’s an amazingly detailed metal replica from the Resident evil games, and it comes in a leather badge holder. If you are planning on a Resident Evil Cosplay, this will really complete the look.

2. Dragonball Z Exclusive 3 Piece Scouter Set
Bluefin Distribution-Booth 140-Price: $25.00
IT’S OVER 9000!! We were all thinking it. Out of everything announced so far, this may be my favorite item. For 25 bucks you get a bad ass DBZ scouter only available at the Con! It makes sound effects and comes in red, green or purple variations. This is an absolute must buy!

1. Star Wars Black Series 6-Inch Boba Fett Action Figure with Han Solo in Carbonite Accesory
Hasbro-Booth 3329-Price: $44.99
Hasbro consistently produces some of the coolest exclusives year in and year out. Unfortunately the other constant are the lines for their products. This is one of the best and most detailed action figures I have ever seen and it just so happens to be for the Fett man and a hansicle in tow. It’s not cheap, but if you can beat the line this is a great one for any collector.

That does it for this round, but I am sure there are more awesome SDCC 2013 exclusives yet to be revealed!

Google Glass Is…Who Am I Kidding, Frakking Awesome

As much as I want to bag on this technology and talk about how we have this endless need to share worthless crap, I just can’t. You can rip on it for everyone is going to look like Jordy from Star Trek TNG, but you know what…Jordy was fucking cool so why wouldn’t you. I’m not sure how much I would want to wear this considering I know how much I either lose or break a pair of sunglasses, but I would definitely want to give these a shot as long as the price tag is not crazy. Would you wear these Nerdosphere and what would you wear them for? I think our first video would have to be a Google hangout for lucky fans to follow us in our Comic Con adventures.

Update: Slated for an early 2014 release, developer editions are priced at a whopping $1,500. The BDNS will be taking donations soon enough so you can follow our movements. So pony up that cash cheap skates haha.

Top 10 TV Shows Of 2012

Before recording our ‘Best of 2012′ show tonight I figure I might as well go more in depth in my choices now so I can explain them a bit more here. Something to note here is that they don’t have to be new shows that started in 2012, but just what kept my interest the most and whatever the hell I deem worthy enough. I don’t care how much some of these may make you groan or move uncomfortably in your seat, this is da professors top 10 on TV in 2012.

10. Don’t Trust the B!@#$ In Apt. 23

I almost put this one at #9 just so you wouldn’t stop reading after one post, but hang with me here…it’ll get better. I mean if Jeff can watch Gossip Girl and Rossoli & Isles, then dammit I get one too! I put this on this list for one reason pretty much; James Van Der Beek. Guy freaking steals the show playing himself. Top show moment; JVDB loses his mind on Dancing with the Stars.

He’s laughing cause it hurts so good.

9. Alcatraz

Not JJ’s finest I admit, but hey it takes place in the city I live and has a pretty decent sci-fi element to it. Definitely has traces of Lost of where you know they’re just never going to answer it, but hey I loved that show to the biter end too! The cast is pretty decent as well and is mostly held down by Sam Neill as the main mysterious character. Just looked it up and turns out this show is canceled. Hmmm, fuck it. It stays at #9.

Samuel Jackson & The VGA’s

Sounds like a cool Motown group doesn’t it? I don’t care what any of you say; Samuel Jackson should probably just host the Video Game Awards every year. The man just deserves to be there (not sure if that’s a good or bad thing). Got to say the awards improved dramatically this year because there wasn’t a whole lot of BS outside the awards and some trailers. Here were the best trailers in my eyes. What were your favorites?

Khan Me Maybe

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Some people are already pissed just with this teaser trailer saying that there’s no substance, it’s all just action, and they pretty much want Kirk and Spock to make love in the trailer. I say slow your roll there nerds, just a teaser. JJ will have the substance, he may not explain everything you’d like (f!@#$% Lost), but he’ll put out something worth while. Also the rumors can be put to rest, Khan will definitely be the villain…hence my title, hehe.

Update: I guess when I say it’s clearly Khan, I’m stating that in my own opinion from the trailer. Others think there’s a very good chance it could be Gary Mitchell as well since he’s seen wearing a Star Fleet uniform. Sound off your thoughts in the comments.

Your Hairy Hobbit Feet Tingling Yet?

Apparently The Colbert Report on Comedy Central is having an all Hobbit week in preparation for The Hobbit releasing next week. S#!^, next week already!? Despite mixed reviews the film is getting, I’m still a nerd and we’re finally going back to Middle-Earth. What’s not to be excited about?! Here’s an interview from this week already with Ian McKellen.

Manu Bennett Joins Arrow

Oh hell yea! Spartacus’ right hand Gaul joins the cast of one of my favorite new shows. It was announced yesterday that Manu Bennett has signed on to portray Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke, later in this season of CW’s Arrow. Bennett is best known for his bulky muscles and stunt-cocking Xena on Starz hit series Spartacus as the gladiator/freedom-fighter Crixus. Bennett’s Slade will be featured in a handful of episodes in a series of flashbacks to Ollie’s time spent on the island Lian Yu. Apparently an alliance will form, but for how long? Deathstroke is a major baddy for GA in the comics and I’m definitely looking forward to a solid bad guy on the series instead of the “jerk of the week” scenarios they’ve been throwing at us. And Bennett is a bad ass, great match CW. What does the nerdosphere think?
