As much as I want to bag on this technology and talk about how we have this endless need to share worthless crap, I just can’t. You can rip on it for everyone is going to look like Jordy from Star Trek TNG, but you know what…Jordy was fucking cool so why wouldn’t you. I’m not sure how much I would want to wear this considering I know how much I either lose or break a pair of sunglasses, but I would definitely want to give these a shot as long as the price tag is not crazy. Would you wear these Nerdosphere and what would you wear them for? I think our first video would have to be a Google hangout for lucky fans to follow us in our Comic Con adventures.
Update: Slated for an early 2014 release, developer editions are priced at a whopping $1,500. The BDNS will be taking donations soon enough so you can follow our movements. So pony up that cash cheap skates haha.
Before recording our ‘Best of 2012′ show tonight I figure I might as well go more in depth in my choices now so I can explain them a bit more here. Something to note here is that they don’t have to be new shows that started in 2012, but just what kept my interest the most and whatever the hell I deem worthy enough. I don’t care how much some of these may make you groan or move uncomfortably in your seat, this is da professors top 10 on TV in 2012.
10. Don’t Trust the B!@#$ In Apt. 23
I almost put this one at #9 just so you wouldn’t stop reading after one post, but hang with me here…it’ll get better. I mean if Jeff can watch Gossip Girl and Rossoli & Isles, then dammit I get one too! I put this on this list for one reason pretty much; James Van Der Beek. Guy freaking steals the show playing himself. Top show moment; JVDB loses his mind on Dancing with the Stars.
He’s laughing cause it hurts so good.
Not JJ’s finest I admit, but hey it takes place in the city I live and has a pretty decent sci-fi element to it. Definitely has traces of Lost of where you know they’re just never going to answer it, but hey I loved that show to the biter end too! The cast is pretty decent as well and is mostly held down by Sam Neill as the main mysterious character. Just looked it up and turns out this show is canceled. Hmmm, fuck it. It stays at #9.
Sounds like a cool Motown group doesn’t it? I don’t care what any of you say; Samuel Jackson should probably just host the Video Game Awards every year. The man just deserves to be there (not sure if that’s a good or bad thing). Got to say the awards improved dramatically this year because there wasn’t a whole lot of BS outside the awards and some trailers. Here were the best trailers in my eyes. What were your favorites?
In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
Some people are already pissed just with this teaser trailer saying that there’s no substance, it’s all just action, and they pretty much want Kirk and Spock to make love in the trailer. I say slow your roll there nerds, just a teaser. JJ will have the substance, he may not explain everything you’d like (f!@#$% Lost), but he’ll put out something worth while. Also the rumors can be put to rest, Khan will definitely be the villain…hence my title, hehe.
Update: I guess when I say it’s clearly Khan, I’m stating that in my own opinion from the trailer. Others think there’s a very good chance it could be Gary Mitchell as well since he’s seen wearing a Star Fleet uniform. Sound off your thoughts in the comments.
Apparently The Colbert Report on Comedy Central is having an all Hobbit week in preparation for The Hobbit releasing next week. S#!^, next week already!? Despite mixed reviews the film is getting, I’m still a nerd and we’re finally going back to Middle-Earth. What’s not to be excited about?! Here’s an interview from this week already with Ian McKellen.
Oh hell yea! Spartacus’ right hand Gaul joins the cast of one of my favorite new shows. It was announced yesterday that Manu Bennett has signed on to portray Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke, later in this season of CW’s Arrow. Bennett is best known for his bulky muscles and stunt-cocking Xena on Starz hit series Spartacus as the gladiator/freedom-fighter Crixus. Bennett’s Slade will be featured in a handful of episodes in a series of flashbacks to Ollie’s time spent on the island Lian Yu. Apparently an alliance will form, but for how long? Deathstroke is a major baddy for GA in the comics and I’m definitely looking forward to a solid bad guy on the series instead of the “jerk of the week” scenarios they’ve been throwing at us. And Bennett is a bad ass, great match CW. What does the nerdosphere think?
After years of being recycled on USA and other trash cable networks, MacGyver has been rejuvenated for today’s godless youth. Earlier this month it was announced that a MacGyver movie is in the works, which will understandably be epic. After all, this man has defused a missile with just a paper clip, fixed a truck with only the spring of a pen, and made mullets fashionable for far too many years. Written by Bangkok Dangerous‘ Jason Richman, this new feature will be directed by non other than James Wan of Insidious and the Saw franchise.
In addition to this film, Image Comics has released the first issue – which has sold out – of a 5 part mini-series last month that is written by the shows creator Lee David Zlotoff. This is Mac’s first adventure since 1994. MacGyver becomes involved in a twisted tale of corporate espionage, Interpol agents, and sexy femme fatales all the whilst evading assassins looking to collect a million dollar bounty on his head. Art is a little weak, but MacGyverisms a plenty!
I for one am re-growing my mullet in anticipation of this film. Who’s with me?
Blood & Chrome (originally set to be a SyFy show) has turned into a web series on Machinima and will begin THIS Friday. Below is a new trailer for the series and I got to say I’m pretty interested to see how this goes. I definitely don’t think it will be as deep as the original show and will mostly focus on great action, but who knows we may get some surprises to this prequel series to the original. Anyone have high hopes for this series?
I just don’t know what to say. It all happened so quickly. For a moment we had Kevin Pereira, Sara, and Candace. Then it went to Sara, Candace, and random. Now it’s nothing; a black hole from 3pm-5pm everyday where I can watch gorgeous funny girls talk about the things I love. Since Pereira left the show was definitely not as good (Ceglia claims Pereira is the 2nd best host on TV) and there were rumors about this branding change, but it’s hard to accept. X-Play’s coverage of E3 and AOTS coverage of comic con were second to none and will definitely be missed. Not missed as much as Sara’s dirty gamer girl next to the girl-next-door type Candace Bailey. G4 plans to move to a more “more upscale, sophisticated guy TV space.” I’m sorry, but that’s not what I want. These shows will end in December with farewell episodes, host reunions, and of course ‘best of…’ segments. These were shows that gave shows like our podcast hope for what we could possibly be. AOTS and X-Play we be missed and hopefully someone picks up the talent that was behind these shows.
