Snowboard Park Opens With Star Wars Themes

Now there’s not much on the main slopes it sounds like, but this is pretty awesome news for kids trying to learn to ski or snowboard. I don’t know how well the Ewoks would do in the snow, but lets just hope they don’t release any Wampas on the kids. Actually you know what, release them and let them take out the fat ones. Survival of the fittest! Here’s the article from the SF Gate.

They should place these around the park like the snowmen from Amped!

The wizened Yoda’s “Do, or do not. There is no try” comes to mind with the opening this weekend of the Burton Star Wars Experience, the world’s first snowboard park employing “Star Wars” themes and characters to teach the sport to children as young as 3. The park at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort combines Jedi methods of balance, movement and control with the Burton Riglet Reel, which attaches to the nose of pint-size snowboards to help little ones learn. Chain saw carvings of R2D2, C-3PO, Chewbacca, Anakin Skywalker and cuddly Ewoks will inspire kiddies as they navigate the learning process.

Vitals: Open throughout the season. $135 a day, $243 for three days. Sierra-at-Tahoe, 1111 Sierra at Tahoe Road, Twin Bridges. (530) 659-7453
